Change the TCP port your mail server listens on for incoming Internet email.
Microsoft Exchange 2000 and 2003
- Open Control Panel\Administrative Tools\Services
- Stop the Simple Mail Transport Protocol (SMTP) Service
- Open the Exchange System Manager
- Re-Open Control Panel\Administrative Tools\Services
- Start the Simple Mail Transport Protocol (SMTP) Service
- Open a Windows command prompt on the server
- Enter: telnet localhost 26
- You should get a 220 greeting from Exchange Server (if not go back to step 1)
- Enter: quit (to close the SMTP session)
- You have successfully changed Exchange Server's listening SMTP port
Microsoft Exchange 5.5
- Open Control Panel\Administrative Tools\Services
- Stop the Exchange Server Internet Mail service.
- Open the file \Winnt\System32\Drivers\Etc\Services in notepad.
- Locate the line: smtp 25/tcp mail
- Change the 25 to 26
- Save the Services file.
- Restart the Exchange Server IMS service.
Lotus Domino 6
- From the Domino Administrator, click the Configuration tab.
- Open the Server document for the server that runs the SMTP service.
- Click the Ports - Internet Ports - Mail tab.
- In the Mail (SMTP Inbound) column, change the port to 26
- Restart the SMTP service as follows:
- Click the Server - Status tab and select the Server Tasks view.
- Select SMTP Server from the list of tasks.
- Click Tools - Task - Restart, and then click Yes.
